Don't Rush Into Deliverance
Don't rush into deliverance because it can be risky if not done correctly. It should follow understanding and trust. Usually, deliverance isn't instant; it requires careful planning. Some people get excited to see manifestations, but if iniquity isn't dealt with, the spirit can return because the sin remains unresolved. Then it returns and attaches itself. You really did them a disservice because the unclean spirit brought several more issues than the one they gave up.
Matthew 12:43-45 [AMPC] “But when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, it roams through dry [arid] places in search of rest, but it does not find any. Then it says, I will go back to my house from which I came out. And when it arrives, it finds the place unoccupied, swept, put in order, and decorated. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and make their home there. And the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first. So also shall it be with this wicked generation.”
Must Align with God's Word
I love the deliverance ministry, but I trust its effectiveness only when it aligns with God's word. When the spirit returns and finds the house unchanged, it and its friends are ready to re-enter. That's when you must do the work to make the house different, rearranged, with the Holy Spirit filling the void. If you remove insecurity, it’s replaced with His presence. When the unclean spirit returns, he recognizes the security established by the Holy Spirit, preventing his return. This demonstrates the power of the Holy Spirit and the importance of filling the void. Your mentee may have forgiven and been forgiven, but they are still hurting, and you need to discover why to complete the deliverance. Deliverance is not finished until the house is in order, which requires healing from all hurts, wounds, and offenses. We're living in the days when the Holy Spirit wants to use you. If you want to listen, and that's precisely what is said here, as a child of God, if you listen to Him, you will get an “ever-clearer knowledge of Him.”
1 John 4:6 [AMP] "We are [children] of God. Whoever is learning to know God [progressively to perceive, recognize, and understand God by observation and experience, and to get an ever-clearer knowledge of Him] listens to us; and he who is not of God does not listen or pay attention to us. By this we know (recognize) the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error."
Recognize the Spirit of Truth
With a relational connection, as Jesus promised, you will recognize the Spirit of Truth. The mentee may share why he's hurting, but if he doesn’t, you'll see him cycling, because deliverance is incomplete. He can't rely solely on retreats or healing services; they’re helpful, but if negative behavior persists without relational growth, it’s not guided by the Holy Spirit to overcome that hurt. He might say things like “the other day, somebody reminded me of my dad. So, what did I do? I picked anger back up.” I asked if he had forgiven his dad the first time, and he said yes. “Why do you think it came back? Because what you're doing is you're recalling the problem so that you can wallow in it.”
Measurable Results
Walking in the Holy Spirit should be measurable; if it's not, you'll fall back into old patterns. Deliverance is only part of transformation; the house must be cleaned by healing hurts and closing the door to future attacks through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our journey in Christianity involves signs and wonders, especially after Jesus received the Holy Spirit at baptism. His power enabled him to perform miracles, which drew attention to his teachings. Today, both Christians and non-Christians want to see God active in our lives. Listening to God's voice and stepping out in faith is crucial, even if we fear failure, because God's love and grace forgive us and guide us.
Authenticity of Trusting the Holy Spirit
Mentoring is about helping others understand and experience transformation, which requires genuine effort and ongoing commitment. True mentoring happens when we continually seek God's presence, not just temporarily, so His power can be evident in us. When can we truly be genuine? People seek authenticity. We shouldn't perform; we should adhere to God's word. God says, I'm sending someone to you to be set free by the Holy Spirit, just as He used the apostles. Churches need to step up. The Father is on the throne, and we must trust the Holy Spirit to work through us. Why aren't we communicating more and walking closer with the Holy Spirit? We have the Holy Spirit to teach and train us. Jesus said, “Why are you looking at me? I gave you the helper.” The Father is sending your helper. His name is the Holy Spirit, and Jesus said he's coming in my name, and that is as powerful as John 3:16.
John 14:26 [AMPC] "But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you."
Why are we trying to reach out to Jesus or the Father when they said together that they're sending the Holy Spirit, and he's going to do what? Do you think he's just going to be there floating around like a ghost? No, he's here to teach you all things and bring them back to remembrance.
Rely on the Holy Spirit
Did you understand? You said, 'I know Jesus, who he is and what He's done.' Jesus said on the cross, 'It is finished,' indicating His work was complete. Why do we try to add more when it's already done? He finished it by sending us the Holy Spirit to help us, who inspired the men to write this word. We're blessed, and it's not about me but the Holy Spirit. You need to discover who you are. I don't bring notes when mentoring; I rely on the Spirit. During the inventory of hurts for my mentee, I trust He'll show me something spiritually. I get into a position where I let Him work, or I won't act. If I hear nothing, I'll leave and get coffee instead of just sitting there.
